The Comboni Sisters
Alicia arrived first. Here service in the convent with Palestinians in Jerusalem and the West Bank served a basis for the acquaintance between PHR Israel and this rare woman. She introduced us to Azezet. It was for us, a love at first sight for the two women.

Both dedicate themselves to volunteering in PHR Israel's clinics. In addition Alicia visited the Gaza Strip and hospitals in Egypt, following the attack on Gaza (Dec 2008-Jan 2009), to inspect on the available medical care and the wounded, and Azezet listens to the testimonies of asylum seekers reaching our clinics following victimized and tortured on their voyage through the Sinai desert. The accounts of Alicia and Azezet served for PHR Israel's extensive advocacy on the two issues.

In their order's vision, under the mission of Peace and Justice it says: " We need to grow in this commitment, to name and examine the root causes of systemic structures of oppression in the economic, political, social, cultural and religious fields. We are challenged to build the culture of non-violence and of peace and to promote the respect and the defense of Human Rights and of Creation."
