No One Left Behind: PHRI Launches Emergency Crowdfunding Campaign

The curve has been flattened, but the crisis isn’t over.

We are incredibly excited to share some good news. Last week, we launched an emergency campaign to ensure no one will be left behind in the fight for equal access to health during these times. So far, you have raised more than 130,000 shekels.

Seeing this, a few of generous donors wanted to join in, and agreed to match – shekel for shekel – every donation that comes in for the next little while, up to 100,000 shekels. So now, your donation can have double its impact on our work with the most vulnerable- both in Israel and the occupied territory. Take action, and help us get to the halfway point!

The curve has been flattened, but the crisis isn’t over. As we slowly emerge from weeks of isolation, we face the true test: the socio-economic impact of the crisis. For the most vulnerable communities – those who never had access to adequate health and welfare services – the challenges will be even greater. Now, more than ever, they need help – yours and ours – to protect their health.

This is why we are asking you to join us today and take part in our COVID-19 emergency crowdfunding campaign to ensure that in in the fight against the Coronavirus, no one left behind.

Thanks to your unwavering support, we have already taken steps to answer the needs of the most vulnerable in Israel and the occupied Palestinian territory by:

  • Providing medication and protective equipment to healthcare workers in the Gaza Strip and remote West Bank villages
  • Treating asylum seekers in our Open Clinic in Jaffa
  • Ensuring that the Ministry of Health provides financial coverage for treatment of status-less COVID-19 patients
  • Launching a hotline for health insurance extensions for asylum seekers who were fired from their jobs
  • Appealing to the Supreme Court to ask Israel to adhere to its obligations to assist the COVID-19 fight in Gaza and the West Bank
  • Demanding transparency from the Israel Prison Service in its handling of the Coronavirus crisis
  • Working to ensure that people with disabilities are not placed in second priority in life-saving actions at the ICU

But there is much, much more that needs to be done to protect the most vulnerable from the effects of the crisis – and we cannot do it without you. You support will enable us to continue fighting for equal health care for all, the residents of Israel, Jews and Arabs, residents of Israel’s geographical and social periphery, the elderly, Palestinians in Israel and in the occupied territory and asylum seekers.

Now is the time to act and give to ensure that no one will be left behind.
